Updated: May 31, 2019

Whether you like him or not, here are the facts. All information was gathered from official Chicago police documents.

1. JUSSIE BOUGHT WEED, ECSTASY AND COCAINE; UNCOOPERATIVE with Police

The Jussie Smollett case was given a team of 15 people to find his attackers. As per legal procedure, Jussie was asked to hand over his phone as well as submit medical information. Smollett also refused to look at a photo lineup and asked for body cameras to be turned off. Smollett refused to give up his phone and said "we'll see" on other requests made by police. Police were forced to get a warrant. Upon getting his phone, police found texts to his trainer/attacker Abimbola Onsundairo requesting to buy weed, ecstasy, and cocaine from him, which would be paid via Venmo with the description of "training". This may have been the reason why Jussie didn't want to cooperate with giving over his phone.

Because of this discovery, the police stated that on "multiple occasions, Jussie "would "describe payments for illicit activity as payments for legitimate expenses," the files state.

According to to the police documents, the Venmo payment is how police learned the $3,500 check to one of the brothers who participated in the scam, which was labeled as payment for a nutrition plan and training, was really an alleged payoff for the staged attack.

2. JUSSIE KEPT THE ROPE AROUND HIS NECK UNTIL POLICE ARRIVED, 40 MINUTES AFTER ATTACK

Smollett was attacked at 2 a.m. after being out to grab a late night snack. After he was attacked, he returned to his residence. The doorman made a statement recognizing that he had seen a rope around Smollett's neck. 40 minutes later, police arrived to see Smollett still had the rope around his neck.

3. JUSSIE'S STORY CHANGES, SKIN COLOR OF ATTACKERS IS QUESTIONED

Though the attackers were found to be the Onsundairo brothers. If you don't know what the Osundairo brothers look like click here. Smollett's initial claim was that he could see white skin. However he later told investigators they were "pale." He then said he never claimed they were white, and added that he had "assumed they were white dudes due to the comments that were made."

He noted the attackers "sounded white" and stated that this was "MAGA COUNTRY". When Smollett was told the brothers were arrested, he told them that they could not be the attackers since they were "black as sin."

4. A WOMAN SPOTTED A WHITE MAN MEETING SMOLLETT'S ATTACKER DESCRIPTIONS BEFORE ATTACK

Smollett had reported that his attackers sounded and had white skin. He also noted that they had put a rope around him. In the line-up, he made a comment that his attacker was bulky. It just so happens that just before the attack a woman had spotted a white man waiting nearby with a rope. Read the document below for more details:

5. SMOLLETT DID NOT WANT TO REPORT THE ATTACK

When Smollett was attacked he was on his phone with his manager. Police reports say that Smollett actually had no intention of calling the police until he was advised to do so. Though is trainer was arrested as the attacker, Smollett's confiscated phone shows that he was on the phone with Abimbola Onsundairo at roughly the same time to ask for a training session.
