Actor DJ Qualls, infamously known for playing nerdy straight dudes in movies, has come out as gay and has “been gay this whole time”.
He posted the news to Twitter on Friday night, saying, "It is 11:20pm. I just came out on stage at a @ jimjefferies show in San Diego." He added, "Yep, I’m gay. Been gay this whole time. Tired of worrying about what people would think of me. Tired of worrying about what it would do to my career."
If you need your memory jogged, DJ Qualls played in “Hustle & Flow” and in “Road Trip”. In the movie "Hustle and Flow" he played as Shelby, a local DJ who helped DJay played by #Terrence Howard create the hit, “Whoop that Trick”.
Good to see that DJ is fully living in his truth. It’s also remarkable to see that nowadays coming out as gay is no longer the worst the to announce to the world.
