"Look out Gathom, Im suited up and ready to go..,"said Javicia Leslie about her new role in the caption of an Instagram post on Friday. As the first black Batwoman in history, she took a screenshot of a costume test from CW's season 2 of "Batwoman". According to Comic Book, the season begins in January 2021 and Leslie is proud.

“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show, which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Leslie said told Comic Book.

Batwoman (Kate Kane) was originally played by Actress Ruby Rose in season 1 on The CW Network. Viewers thought that CW, Warner Bros. TV, and Berlanti Productions would recast the role of Kate Kane after Rose resigned. But the network decided to get an entirely new Batwoman named Ryan Wilder, who Javicia Leslie will play.

Ryan Wilder is rumored to be a messy, goofy and untamed lesbian. The total opposite of the old Kate Kane character who wore the bat suit before Leslie. With no one in her life to keep her sane, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner and filling voids with bad habits. Ryan will live in her car with a plant but is also the girl who would kill you with her bare hands. Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: skilled and wildly undisciplined. Viewers will see Leslie as athletic, passionate. and not your stereotypical superhero.

According to IGN, "Batwoman"'s first season ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Season 1 finale actress Ruby Rose who originally played Batwoman (Kate Kane), later resigned because of physical demands of the job and back injuries. Towards the end of this year, CW Network confirmed Leslie's Ryan Wilder will inherit the Batwoman mantle and Kate Kane herself won't be recast.

Kate's sudden disappearance will be a plot twist in the new Season to keep fans on their toes. Ruby Rose later paid her respects by dedicating an Instagram post to the new casting of Batwoman .

“This is amazing!! I am so glad Batwoman will be played by an amazing Black woman"

From her roles in "God Friended Me" on CBS to "The Family Business" on BET and now "Batwoman" on CW. This 33-year-old actress from Germany is paving the way for the black LGBT community in Hollywood and we love to see it !
