Summer is wrapping up but Global Black Pride Atlanta 2024 is still bringing the heat this Labor Day Weekend.
The near week-long celebration kicks off this week and continues through to September 2nd. Atlanta Black Pride and Global Black Pride has continued their partnership by curating almost a week's worth of activities to celebrate the Pride of the LGBTQIA+ community. Each event is tailored to center diversity, inclusion and joy. The lineup is sure to promise an event for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, identity, and gender presentation.
A number of celebrities are set to make guest appearances at a few of the events throughout the week. Names include Tamar Braxton, Billy Porter, Jessica Betts and Niecy Nash Betts, just to name a few. Amongst the star-studded list is rapper and singer Dej Loaf.
The Detroit native is set to make a special appearance on Friday, Aug. 30th at Josephine Lounge for the Mega Ladies Lounge: Charged Up party that Dej Loaf herself will host. This party is just one of the many enticing events curated by the Pure EnHERgy crew. This subset of events caters specifically to “women who love women.” Of course all are welcome to attend.
Dej Loaf has shown her support for the LGBTQ+ community in several ways and is a well-known ally. In 2018, in honor of Pride Month, she paid for all the marriage licenses for same-sex couples in New York on the day her single "Liberated" was released. The singer/rapper took to Instagram in 2018 to make the announcement, captioning her post with the following:
"On June 8th, I am helping people get liberated. Visit New York City Hall to have your marriage license costs covered by me."
Dej Loaf continues to show her support for the LGBTQIA+ community through her allyship and advocacy.
