Dwyane Wade is giving us huge #girldad vibes after showing his support for his 12 year old's gender identity change on the Ellen Show.
He explained that his 12-year-old, previously called Zion, sat he and his wife, Gabrielle Union, down and said "I would like to start, "living my truth" and that the pronouns "she" and "her" should be used and wanted to be called Zaya.
Gabrielle and Dwyane's immediate response was priceless, "“Now it’s our job to, one, go out and get information, to reach out to every relationship that we have,” Dwyane said.
“My wife reached out to everybody on the cast of Pose. We just tryna figure out as much information as we can to make sure that we give our child the best opportunity to be her best self."
Dwyane is also part of a program called "Listen" to get more information to support Zaya. Zaya's decision was not a huge surprise as she was spotted more than a year earlier first appearing in nail polish and afterwards wearing feminine clothes. Being only 12 and daughter to public figures, Dwyane explained that he and his wife would be a leader, however she would one day take the reins and be a leader herself.
With that being said, let's welcome our newest princess, Zaya.
