Legal documents brought to the public on Monday, June 20th, 2022 show that Vivian Jenna Wilson, daughter of Elon Musk, has petitioned to have her gender and new name be legally recognized by the state of California to completely remove herself from the association of her billionaire father. She recently turned 18, which is the age of consent in California, and shortly thereafter legally changed her gender from male to female.
This document was filed in Santa Monica with the Los Angeles county superior court in April, and it's only now coming to the public forum in media reports.
She stated in the petition for both the name change and a new birth certificate that, “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
Vivian is one of five children that Musk and his previous wife, Justine Wilson shared together during their marriage, from 2000-2008. Justine recently tweeted in support of her daughter.
This could possibly be in reference to the process of Wilson changing her last name, her gender or both.
Wilson has not yet made a statement on the petition nor the publicity it has received.
This petition reaching the mainstream media, not only brought to light Elon Musk’s relations outside that of Grimes and their affair which took the internet by storm but Elon Musk even had a family beforehand. It also brought into new understanding a controversial tweet Musk made in 2020.
It reads simply: “Pronouns suck.” While Musk later tweeted that he “supports the trans” and that the differentiating pronouns are just an “aesthetical nightmare.”, the attitude shown toward that portion of trans identity is telling what conversations in the Musk household, (while Vivian lived with Musk at least), must have been like.
