In a historical debut on Max's first-ever roller skating competition series "Roller Jam," the all-Black queer skating group, Haus of Sk8, showcased their passion and talent to a national audience.

The six-episode series, founded by HGTV's Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Network and hosted by the vibrant Jordin Sparks, is a dazzling showcase of roller skating excellence, with crews performing stunning routines inspired by different decades. In addition to receiving a $150,000 cash prize, the winning team will also be awarded a $10,000 donation to their local rink.

Judged by a star-studded panel that includes two-time U.S. Olympian and national figure skating champion Johnny Weir, roller-skating legend Terrell Ferguson, and rotating celebrity guest judges like Michelle Williams, Maureen McCormick, Pepa, and Joanna Gaines herself, the competition is fierce, but Haus of Sk8 stands out not just for their skills but for their unapologetic representation of Black queer culture.

Making their debut on episode two, Haus of Sk8—comprised of pro skaters Laron, Don, Marshon, and Zemo —performed a show-stopping routine to the high-energy anthem "Pump It" by the Black Eyed Peas.

Known for their viral skating videos on social media, these four artists have captivated audiences with their gravity-defying moves, charisma, and undeniable chemistry. Originally formed as a six-person group, Haus of Sk8 shared with Gaye Magazine how they evolved into a powerhouse quartet.

"We decided to form Haus of Sk8 to let the world know that we are here and making a statement every time viewers see us," they shared exclusively with Gaye Magazine.

The name "Haus of Sk8" is a nod to the iconic ballroom culture, where "houses" serve as safe havens and support systems for LGBTQ+ individuals. For group member Laron Gigger, , this concept is central to the group's identity.

He explains, "Haus of Sk8 is not just about skating; it’s about breaking barriers, living authentically, and representing the LGBTQ+ community in a way that hasn’t been seen before."

Laron further shared the significance of their participation in the groundbreaking series, saying, "I created the name Haus of Sk8 as a tribute to ballroom culture, where a house is a sanctuary for those who may not have a happy home or feel exiled—a safe place of rescue, community support, love, and free expression without judgment. Being on Roller Jam, the first-ever roller skating TV competition, is monumental for us. It’s even more impactful that we were the ONLY Black, male LGBTQ crew on the show. We wanted to go on the show to make a statement and inspire more than anything: that you can still make your dreams come true in reality, no matter the path you choose in life. Our crew is pushing the limits of what’s possible on skates, and we’re ready to take the world by storm, with love, pride, and respect at the forefront."

Each member of Haus of Sk8 brings their own unique flair to the group. Laron is a social media influencer, dancer, and gymnast. Don is a fashion stylist, Shon is a professional skater and artist balancing his college life, and Zemo— a multi-talented DJ, photographer, and media manager—adds depth to the group’s dynamic both on and off the rink.

Zemo passionately shared the essence of what Haus of Sk8 represents, stating, “Just like any Haus, Haus of Sk8 was created for people to live in their truth. When we perform, we understand the value of what we’re doing and the stakes at hand. Letting people like us know not only that we ain’t going nowhere but also you can rise by just being your authentic self. This moment in time is just another step in a movement that has been going from past, present, and future LGBTQ+ members. You might not know us yet but you will soon. We are HAUS OF SK8!”

Haus of Sk8's journey on Roller Jam is not just about winning a title or prize—it’s about paving the way for future generations of Black and queer roller skaters. Their presence on the show is a testament to the power of visibility, courage, and community. With each performance, they challenge stereotypes, inspire others to live authentically, and demonstrate the transformative power of art, culture, and self-expression.

So, buckle up and get ready for more show-stopping performances from Haus of Sk8 as they roll, spin, and glide their way into the hearts of viewers everywhere. This is just the beginning for the crew that’s here to stay—and make history while they’re at it.

Haus of Sk8 is ready to take the world by storm, one smooth glide at a time.
