Gayes! If you’re looking for your next female buddy comedy tap in. Keke Palmer and SZA are set to star in an upcoming untitled film for TriStar Pictures.
In addition to starring in the film Palmer is set to executive produce alongside Issa Rae’s HOORAE Media.
Lawrence Lamont of MAX’s “Rap Sh!t" is tapped to direct with the screenplay written by fellow “Rap Sh!t” showrunner Syreeta Singleton.
The film, from CoCre Lab at Sony Pictures born from a previous pact between ColorCreative and Columbia Pictures to platform diverse and emerging screenwriters in developing their first studio feature based on original ideas.
Fans may recall Palmer and SZA’s “Saturday Night Live” stint from Dec. 2022, when Palmer hosted and SZA was featured as the musical guest.
The pairing's “Big Boy” skit proved to be a hit amassing millions of views across various social media platforms.
Palmer took to Instagram to express her excitement about the project sharing a photo of the Variety article announcing the film captioned “I can't wait”
The film will mark SZA’s theatrical acting debut. Throughout her career she has obtained an Academy Award nomination and won four Grammys.
Palmer is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, Hertz Lichtenstein, Young & Polk and LUNA PR.
SZA is repped by WME for theatrical film career and Top Dawg Entertainment.
