Better Brothers Los Angeles (BBLA) and Sheryl Lee Ralph's The DIVA Foundation have announced an esteemed lineup of honorees for the 11th annual Truth Awards, powered by ViiV. Set to take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the elegant Beverly Hilton Hotel, this prestigious event will be hosted by actor Nicco Annan (P-Valley) & TV personality TS Madison, and will honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
“I am delighted to co-host the Truth Awards this year alongside my sister, TS Madison. This event holds special significance as we come together to honor and celebrate the rich, enduring spirit of the Black community. Recognizing and uplifting those who mirror our identities and experiences has never been more crucial," Nicco Annan said in an official statement.
Annan continued, "Our community has shown remarkable resilience and an innovative spirit, making it vital to acknowledge and honor these contributions. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the fantastic work that Better Brothers LA is doing to elevate and amplify the visibility and voices of the Black Queer community. Their efforts are pivotal in ensuring that our stories are told and celebrated."
A highlight of this year’s ceremony will be the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Academy Award-nominated director, producer, and screenwriter Lee Daniels.
Renowned for his groundbreaking work in film and television, Daniels has been a trailblazer in reshaping Hollywood’s narrative on race, sexuality, and social justice. His critically acclaimed film Precious and hit TV series Empire and Star have set new standards for diverse storytelling, paving the way for future generations of filmmakers and artists.

Alongside Lee Daniels, Wendy Raquel Robinson will receive the Ally Award for her steadfast commitment to LGBTQ+ advocacy. A two-time Emmy-winning producer, actress, and philanthropist, Robinson has used her platform to elevate issues of equality and inclusion.
The 11th Annual Truth Awards will be a two-day celebration, kicking off with ACT I: Passing the Torch on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM at The Aster in Hollywood. This event will recognize four emerging leaders—James Bland, Preston Mitchum, Amber Whittington, and Terell Grice—for their excellence in various fields, ensuring the next generation continues to make an impact.

The main event, ACT II: The Truth Awards, will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 5:30 PM. This gala will include an evening of awards, performances, and an unmissable afterparty, celebrating the remarkable achievements of trailblazers in the LGBTQ+ community.
Several other distinguished individuals will be recognized at the 2025 Truth Awards. Sheryl Lee Ralph, Founder of The DIVA Foundation, adds, “In honoring these extraordinary visionaries, we're not merely acknowledging their achievements; we are celebrating the essence of courage in its most authentic form.”
Gil Robertson, Founder and President of the African American Film Critics Association, will be honored with the Media & Arts Award for his contributions to diversifying media representation.

BBLA’s annual gala has become a cornerstone event in recognizing Black LGBTQ+ individuals and allies who exemplify authenticity, resilience, and leadership. Beyond the celebration, the Truth Awards also play a vital role in investing in the future of the Black LGBTQ+ community.
Since its inception, BBLA’s scholarship program has awarded over $300,000 in tuition assistance, empowering students to achieve their academic and career aspirations. This year, scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 will be awarded to deserving students. To support BBLA’s continued investment in future leaders, tax-deductible donations can be made to the Impact Fund at givebutter.com/bbla.
As V. Scott Hamilton, Co-Founder and Program Director of BBLA, aptly states, “The Truth Awards are not just a ceremony; they manifest our commitment to recognizing those who bravely refuse to conform, instead choosing to redefine excellence by living their truths without apology.”
The 11th Annual Truth Awards is made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including Gilead, Atlantic Health Systems, The Kettering Foundation, LeadersUp, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Their contributions ensure that this celebration of excellence continues to inspire and uplift the Black LGBTQ+ community.
