Congratulations to the legendary Missy Elliott for being the first female rapper inducted in the Song Writers Hall of Fame! This recogniztion is long overdue and certainly wel deserved.
Missy was introduced by many of her closest peers and colleagues, even Michelle Obama!
Da Brat and Lizzo teamed up to perform “Sock It 2 Me,” while Queen Latifah inducted Missy.
“I want to say one thing to the writers, to the upcoming writers, ‘Do not give up.’ We all go through writer’s block. Sometimes you just have to walk away from a record and come back to it. But don’t give up because I’m standing here. And this is big for hip-hop, too,” said Missy teary eyed.
Missy is just the third rapper ever to be to be inducted, the other two rappers in the Song Writers Hall Of Fame are Jay Z and Jermaine Dupri! Missy also recently announce she just finished a new album. Gayes, will you be buying?
