Imagine getting an endorsement from the queen herself Nicki Minaj after wishing her a happy birthday! Well, for city councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, that’s exactly what he got!
Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez made headlines for becoming the first openly gay, Black man elected to San Antonio’s City Council — or any office in Texas — in early June.
After wishing her a Happy Birthday in a viral video, the Queen of Rap took to her Instagram to tell her fan base, the Barbz to “vote for this great man for the rest of ya’ll life.”
“Every election this great man is apart of we must join our barbz forces together to see him all the way to the Pink H - the White House!”
Upon winning his campaign earlier this year he made a statement, “It wasn’t me who made history, it was the district,” he said during his first address from the dais.
“For any … people who don’t feel represented, I hope that in the future, this opens a door for you. Because there are so many who came before me who opened this door.”
