Perez Hilton calls Prince Azim, Son of Sultan of Brunei, a "Big Ole Homo"




As of April 3rd the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, has enacted what is called sharia punishments. The New York Times talks of how the Sultan is working to strengthen the Islamic teachings, hence this sharia law. This law is most noted, and rebelled against, for harsh punishments like the stoning of gays and adulterers. Though homosexuality was already illegal the previous punishments included imprisonment for up to 10 years. (Express.co.uk)

Perez Hilton has also made comment to Brunei's law in a controversial video where he calls out the Sultans, son Prince Alzim as a "big old homo." This has drawn huge backlash. Many comment the dangers of outing a person surrounded by dangerous conditions. Perez is being accused of putting the son's life in danger and being ignorant of for his actions. Perez claims that the accusations are true because he has personally "spent time with Azim." As expected no response has been made to confirm the truth of the allegations. George Clooney has a close relationship with the magazine Deadline. In it, he acted as a guest writer asking readers to boycott Brunei, the 5th richest country in the world due to its oil and owner of many luxury hotels. Multiple celebrities and companies have also expressed their outrage against Brunei's actions. Joe Torre, Lance Boss and more. The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle refused to stay at the London hotel when offered a free stay and her agent said the duchess would "never stay at a hotel owned by the hotel".
