Police Officer Slapped on Butt by Odell Beckham Jr. Decides Not to Press Chargess

The arrest warrant for Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been rescinded. The officer has decided not to press charges, according to CBS Sports. As previously reported, Beckham was caught on camera slapping a security officer on the butt following the LSU vs Clemson National Championship Game. New Orleans police put out a warrant for simple battery on Thursday because of the video clip, which is available on Twitter.

If found guilty, Beckham was facing a $500 fine and fifteen days up to six months in jail without the benefit of suspension of sentence (Louisiana Statute 14. 34.2). According to NOLA.com, police wanted to charge Beckham with misdemeanor sexual battery. A local judge declined.

The security guard has signed an affidavit stating that he wouldn't press charges.

“The security officer in the incident involving Odell Beckham Jr. has decided to drop the charge,” the New Orleans police public information office told The Guardian via email.
