Exclusive | Entertainment

positive impact health center party with impact comedy show

Positive Impact Health Centers (PHIC) is hosting their annual Party with Impact fundraising event on November 1st and 2nd at the Gas South Theatre in Duluth, Georgia. Party With Impact aims to raise money for PHIC's healthcare, HIV medical care and prevention, and supportive services in metro Atlanta. This year's show will be a comedy showcase featuring standout LGBTQ+ comedic talent such as Kia Barnes, Anthony Oakes, and Jes Tom.

Both a comedienne and community advocate, Atlanta native Kia Barnes aka Kia Comedy is a true double threat. With over 10 years of experience in the stand-up scene, Barnes has entertained audiences nationwide. Originally an educator, Barnes eventually left the classroom to pursue her dream of standup comedy, and that dream has certainly paid off! Her talent has catapulted her from coast to coast with performances on major outlets like Netflix, BET, NBC, and many more.

Self-proclaimed “clean-esque” comedian Anthony Oakes is a comedic talent to his core. A North Carolina native now based in DC, Oakes blends his tongue-in-cheek wit with the charm of a true Southern gentleman. This versatile performer has showcased his talents on legendary platforms such as The John F. Kennedy Center, DC Improv, Comedy Store, and The Laugh Factory.

Jes Tom is a comedian, writer, and actor based in New York City. As a queer, nonbinary, transmasculine fifth generation Asian American, they bring a unique perspective to their work, simultaneously existing at multiple intersections. Tom uses these identities as a source of strength in their comedy. Recently, they appeared in the Netflix special Gender Agenda and served as a story editor on Our Flag Means Death.

Kia “Comedy” Barnes, Anthony Oakes, & Jes Tom are stand out acts that you do not want to miss! Plus, each night will feature special guests - Taylor Alxndr on Night One and Cici Nicole on Night Two. All proceeds will benefit HIV care and prevention at Positive Health Impact Centers. Get your tickets using this link.
