AMC Networks owned streaming service, ALLBLK recently announced a new original feature film titled Operation: Aunties, starring Tisha Campbell, Amiyah Scott, & Melissa De Sousa. Directed by veteran talent Wendy Raquel Robinson and based on a screenplay by writer and executive producer TJ Ali the new project is a unique take on the thriller genre.

According to the film’s official synopsis:  “After an attempted trafficking incident impacts her family, professor and blockchain expert Dr. Carol Cleavers (De Sousa) stumbles upon a dark web operation using new-age technology to assault and traffic women through a rideshare app. Knowing the feds won’t act fast enough, Carol teams up with her best friend, retired detective Sharon O’Hara (Campbell) and her niece Aminah James (Scott), computer hacker extraordinaire. The trio embark on a vigilante mission bringing them face-to-face with danger and ultimately, one another.”

Working alongside the Act Your Age star Tisha Campbell and The Best Man actress Melissa De Sousa, is the influential Amiyah Scott.

Amiyah Scott is a cultural pioneer recognized as one of the first openly transgender individuals in America to reach mainstream success in the television and entertainment industries. In 2016, she made history as the second trans person to play a series regular on network television, portraying Cotton, the transgender daughter of Carlotta Brown, played by the incomparable Queen Latifah, in Lee Daniels’ series STAR (2016 - 2019) on Fox.

On top of her impressive accomplishments, Scott is a legendary figure in the ballroom scene, getting her start at the young age of 17, and one of the first transgender people to accrue a massive following on social media. Scott is also a passionate advocate for transgender rights, utilizing her various platforms to spread awareness and promote inclusion for LGBTQ+ communities.

The dramedy seems to be both equally entertaining and socially conscious. It’s not often audiences get to see an inclusive cast of women working together like this with such a standout plot!

Operation: Aunties will be Robinson’s second directorial project and TJ Ali’s debut film. Currently, the film is currently filming in Atlanta and set to release in 2025, exclusively on the ALL BLK platform.
